Apex Legends Mobile Sunset by EA; Development of Battlefield Mobile Also Cancelled
EA has announced the cancellation of two major mobile game projects in Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile. While the former has been out for a while on various mobile devices, the latter based on the popular DICE franchise was in development when it was cancelled.
When it comes to Respawn’s Apex Legends Mobile, the game will officially bid adieu on May 1, 2023, at 4 PM PDT/ 7 PM EST, with the shutting down of servers. Until then, players can continue to spend the existing in-game virtual currency on all in-game items.
In a blog post, Respawn and EA explained the decision behind the end of Apex Legends Mobile. “Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence,” said the developers. “It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game.”
