Apple AirPods Pro update is long due. The premium TWS earbuds from the company haven’t seen any major update since their launch in October 2019 except for the addition of MagSafe charging case last year. Apple is rumoured to launch the next-generation AirPods Pro alongside the Apple iPhone 14 series at its upcoming event.
The upcoming AirPods Pro has been a part of several leaks and rumours and the TWS earbuds are likely to feature a new design along with several new features. Here’s everything that the AirPods Pro 2nd-generation is expected to offer.
Design change
The biggest change that AirPods Pro is supposed to get is in terms of design. According to the leaks, the AirPods Pro’s design may drift away from the stem design of the current-generation AirPods. Mark Gurman has also reported that Apple is planning to make AirPods Pro more compact by removing the stem. Based on image render leaks, the AirPods Pro is likely to feature a compact and oval shape similar to Galaxy Buds earbuds design. Several other reports claim that Apple will stick to the previous design AirPods Pro with minor changes.
Next-generation H1 chip
Apart from the design, Apple is also expected to include an updated or the next-generation of its H1 chip with the AirPods Pro 2nd-generation. The updated chip is expected to feature improved SiP packaging and adaptive noise cancellation capabilities. The chip is also expected to bring Improved connectivity and power consumption to the table.
Integrated sensors
One of the major changes that we may see with the 2nd-generation AirPods Pro is integrated sensors like heart rate. It is not clear which sensors will be a part of AirPods Pro, but, this is something we have already seen on Samsung Gear IconX.
Improved audio codec support
While, Apple was rumoured to be working on a Bluetooth alternative, it’s unlikely to make the cut in 2nd-generation AirPods. However, it is expected that the AirPods Pro will offer the latest Bluetooth version and will support lossless codecs like LC3 and LE audio support along with Apple Lossless audio (ALAC).
Better Spatial audio and noise cancellation
It goes without saying that Apple will improve the Spatial audio output along with the ANC feature of the upcoming AirPods Pro. The company is expected to use a combination of customised high-amplitude driver units and high-dynamic range amplifiers, and dynamic head tracking with the AirPods Pro 2.
