Apple announces a special event for October 18 – Times of India

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple sent out media invites for a special event to be held on October 18. The event comes just one month after Apple held its annual iPhone event on September 14. The invite reads, “Unleashed” and it will be an online event.

What to expect from Apple “Unleashed” event:

Rumours have been doing the rounds about Apple launching all-new MacBook models. It has been suggested that Apple will also unveil — or rather “unleash” — a new updated M1 processor. The rumour mill has called it M1X processor.
It has been rumoured that two new MacBook models — 14-inch and 16-inch — could be launched. Apple had last year launched M1 powered Mac mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. Since then the M1 processor has made its way to the iPad Pro as well as the 24-inch iMac.
A report by Bloomberg has suggested that the new M1 chip could have eight-high performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. It is also rumoured that the new M1 chip could offer support of up to 64GB of RAM. This — if true — would be a quantum leap as the current M1 chip supports only 16GB of RAM.
As far as the hardware is concerned, rumours have suggested that Apple would ditch its TouchBar in the upcoming MacBook models. Rumours also suggest that Apple could bring MagSafe charging to the MacBook Pro. The Bloomberg report also hinted at the MacBook getting an HDMI port along with an SD card reader.
Apple’s “Unleashed” event on October 18 will be live streamed on the company website. Those interested can also watch it on Apple’s YouTube channel along with the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
