Apple: Apple continues its impressive ‘iPhone record’ in iPads as well – Times of India

WWDC 2023 is almost here, and new versions of iOS, iPadOS, and other operating systems are on the way. The company has released new data revealing that more than three fourths of iPads are running iPadOS 16, with the adoption rate reaching at 76 per cent.
Apple says that 76 per cent of all the iPads introduced in the last four years now run iPadOS 16, which was released last year in September. Meanwhile, 18 per cent of iPads use iPadOS 15, while the remaining 6 per cent are still on the iPadOS 14 and older versions of iPadOS.
iPadOS 16 all-time adoption rate reaches 71%
If we count the all-time iPads sold, 71 per cent of them are on iPadOS 16, 20 per cent runs iPadOS 15, while the remaining 9 per cent iPads are on the older versions of iPadOS.
Last time Apple revealed the adoption rate was in February, and 50 per cent of iPad users were running iPadOS 16, meaning the rest half updated to the iPadOS 16 in the last four months.
About 53 per cent of users with iPad models released in the last four years were also running the latest operating system. Meanwhile, 35 per cent of users were on iPadOS 15, which is now at 20 per cent, and 13 per cent use iPadOS 14 or an earlier version, now at 9 per cent.
81% of iPhones are running iOS 16
Apple also revealed the adoption rate for iOS, which is at 81% for iOS 16. Meanwhile, 13 per cent of the iPhones are still running iOS 16, while only 6 per cent of devices are operating on older versions.
As for the iPhone models released in the last four years, 90 per cent of them are running iOS 16, 8 per cent are on iOS 15, and rest 2 per cent of them are on iOS 14 and older.
Apple says that the broad adoption rate benefits both users and developers.
