apple: Apple rolls out iOS 15.5 for iPhone users: Here’s what’s new – Times of India

Apple will unveil iOS 16 — the next major upgrade of its operating system for iPhone — on June 6 at the WWDC. However, it looks like the iPhone maker isn’t yet done with iOS 15. Apple has rolled out iOS 15.5 for all iPhone users. While the update doesn’t bring any major upgrades, it still has added some features to a few apps. Here are some of the key features that iOS 15.5 brings to iPhones:
Apple Wallet
Apple Wallet users will be able to request or send money directly through the Apple Cash Card. Earlier, they had to go to Messages to use this feature. Apple has also renamed the Apple Pay Messages app to Apple Cash Messages. Users in the European Union can now add vaccination records in the EU Digital COVID certificate format.
Apple Podcasts
The Podcasts app is getting a new feature where users can set the limit to the number of episodes that can be stored on iPhone. It will also automatically delete the older episodes.
Home app
Home app will now prompt users about critical notification alerts. If your iPhone is on DND mode or silent mode, even then critical alerts will make a notification sound. These will be only for an emergency event, like if a smoke alarm is triggered.
How to update to iOS 15.5
Follow these simple steps — in case you aren’t aware — on how to update to iOS 15.5. The first step is to take a backup of the iPhone using iCloud or your computer.

  • Plug your device into a power source and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
