apple: Apple working on iPad Pro with wireless charging, iPad mini, claims report – Times of India

Tech giant Apple is working on a new version of the iPad Pro that can charge wirelessly, claims a report by Bloomberg. It also claims that the company has been working on the iPad mini, a device that hasn’t been revamped with a fresh design in six years.
As per the report, the new version of the iPad Pro with wireless charging will come out next year while the iPad mini could launch this year. To facilitate wireless charging on the iPad Pro, Apple might ditch the aluminium back in favour of a glass one, which would also call the sturdiness of the device in question. On the other hand, the new iPad mini design could be lacking a home button entirely and sport narrower display bezels, as per the report. The upcoming iPad mini is expected to come with an 8.4-inch display and be powered by the M1 chip. Apple last refreshed the iPad mini lineup with the iPad mini 5 in March 2019.
Claims similar to the ones in the report regarding iPad mini have been made earlier also. Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier claimed that Apple will launch the sixth-generation iPad mini in the second half of 2021. The TF Securities’ analyst included some details about the new iPad mini in a note to the investors. Apple didn’t announce the iPad mini during the Spring Loaded event, only focussing on the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the iMacs, all powered by the tech giant’s own M1 chip. This led to the speculation that perhaps Apple was considering launching the iPad mini later in the first half of 2021. But Kuo’s claim has quashed these rumours, predicting the launch to be deferred to the second half.
