Apple iOS 16.1 software update released: new features
Apple iOS 16.1 released
The new iOS 16.1 update will allow users to subscribe to and access Apple Firtness+ even when they don’t have an Apple Watch. Fitness+ is a subscription service with guided workouts and meditations. The app will show metrics like calories burned or your real-time heart rate.
The update will also include Clean Energy Charging feature that will allow users to optimise charging for when cleaner energy sources are available. This helps to decrease iPhone’s carbon footprint. This can be selected in Settings > Battery > Battery Health and Charging.
The iOS 16.1 will allow users to create an iCloud Shared Photo Library instead of a standard shared iCloud album. This feature will let users invite up to five other people, or six in total, to a library where they can all add, delete, and edit their photos and videos.
There’s a new Camera app toggle which allows users to choose to send photos to the shared library automatically. There’s the Live Activities feature for the third-party app, which shows information from a sports game, ride-sharing apps like Uber, or food delivery orders. Users will be able to see how long it will for the order to come.
IOS 16.1 brings Key sharing that enables you to securely share a car, hotel room, and other keys in your wallet using messaging apps such as Messages and WhatsApp.
