Apple iPhone 15 series to reportedly sport 48MP main camera – Times of India
According to Apple industry analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may introduce the 48MP rear camera in the affordable iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. Kuo adds that the company is planning to integrate a new sensor in the smartphones which will help in capturing more light.
According to Kuo, Apple has also managed to resolve the yield problems related to its latest stacked CMOS image sensor (CIS) design. This achievement was made possible due to Sony, the supplier of the sensor, ramping up its production capacity by 100-120% to meet Apple’s high demand. However, this increase in production for Apple has resulted in a substantial decrease in the supply available for its Android partners.
What more to expect from iPhone 15 lineup
Apart from the upgraded camera, both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature the A16 Bionic chip, the same powerful chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro models. Additionally, the standard iPhone 15 models will incorporate a USB-C port, although it is uncertain whether it will have any speed limitations.
The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models are not expected to have solid-state buttons due to design challenges. The smartphones are said to feature a titanium frame and powered by Apple’s own A17 Bionic chip paired with 8GB of RAM.
