Apple may add a ‘thermometer’ inside the AirPods – Times of India

Apple is reportedly making AirPods with various health features including posture and body temperature monitoring. Apart from this, the Airpods will also have the ability to work as a hearing aid, reads a report by The Wall Street Journal. The claims are based on documents in which a prototype of these earbuds is seen with temperature sensors that monitor the wearer’s core body temperature from inside the year.
The report further suggests that the temperature sensors on the in-development AirPods may work along with the sensors present in Apple Series Watch 8. The earbuds are also said to use motion sensors to monitor posture of the wearer and notify them if their body is drooping.
The company recently rolled out a firmware update for AirPods Pro that gives a ‘Conversation Boost’ feature to the device. The new feature boosts the volume and clarity of the people’s voice that are directly in front of the wearer. The gadget already features microphones, an amplifier, and a processor that can support hearing aid functionality. It is not yet clear whether the company is looking at the hearing function as a hearing-aid specific feature or an extension to the Conversation Boost feature.
The AirPods with above mentioned features are not expected to be launched anytime soon but the company may launch new earbuds during the upcoming event on October 18. According to older reports, the upcoming earbuds entered production last month and they will look similar to the current generation AirPods Pro.
The rumoured true wireless stereo earphones are expected to get a new chipset. It is also said that the new generation of AirPods will also boost the new Lossless Audio feature introduced by Apple’s music streaming platform. It is speculated that the earbuds will have a much better battery life compared to the previous generations.
