Apple may be working on 20-inch foldable OLED MacBook: Report – Times of India

Apple is reportedly planning to introduce two new models of the iPad with OLED displays in 2024. LG and Samsung are expected to supply the OLED panels for these rumoured iPad models. The Cupertino-based tech giant was previously speculated to release MacBooks in the foldable factor by 2027. Now, a new report claims that the company has already started working on a MacBook with a 20-inch foldable screen. According to a report by The Elec, Apple will use a 20.25-inch OLED display that will be shipped by an “unknown South Korean supplier.” The supplier might be Samsung but the report hasn’t confirmed that. The company is already supplying OLED panels to Apple for the upcoming iPad models. Moreover, Samsung is also a major player in the foldable device and display market.
Apple foldable OLED MacBook: More details
The alleged foldable MacBook is likely to feature a 20.25-inch foldable OLED display when it is unfolded. Whereas, the screen will reportedly measure 15.3 inches when the device remains folded. To compare, the top variant of the latest iPad Pro sports a 12.9-inch display but the folded display size of the upcoming device will be smaller than the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro’s screen.

Apple and foldable OLED screens
Apple is not expected to release the foldable MacBook before transitioning the iPads and MacBooks to OLED displays. Currently, the company uses OLED displays only for its premium Apple Watch and iPhone models. The remaining Apple products are either equipped with mini-LED or LCD screens.
