Apple may bring some “nice to have” features to your iPhone with iOS 17 – Times of India

While the new iPhones might still be away, Apple is soon set to bring the next big update for iPhones, the iOS 17, at the WWDC in June. There is little known about what to expect from the iOS 17, but the next iteration could come with some of the most-requested features, reports Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.
Gurman reported in January that the upcoming update for iOS, the iOS 17, might not be as significant as previous updates. The reason was that the company is reportedly concentrating heavily on the development of its long-awaited mixed-reality headset.
Now Gurman says that during the later stages of the iOS 17 development process, Apple altered its approach and incorporated various new features, indicating that the forthcoming update may be more substantial than initially anticipated.
iOS 17 may debut at WWDC in June
Initially, when Apple commenced the development of iOS 17, the plan was to label it as a tune-up release, with a greater focus on resolving glitches and enhancing performance, much like how the company approached Snow Leopard for Mac OS X in 2009. The objective was to circumvent the issues that arose with iOS 16, a grand update that faced delays and a bumpy start.
However, later on in the development process, the strategy shifted. As per the current outlook, iOS 17 is anticipated to introduce a few desirable features, although it may not have a flagship enhancement like last year’s revamped lock screen. The aim of this software, which goes by the codename “Dawn,” is to fulfil several of the most requested features by users.
As has been customary with past updates to the iPhone software, it is anticipated that a preview of the upcoming iOS 17 will be presented at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. While the iOS may release for all later in September, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone.
