Apple may move to USB-C for AirPods and other accessories – Times of India

Ming-Chi Kuo, a noted Apple analyst, recently suggested that Apple may ditch the lightning port for USB-C port in 2023 iPhone models. Now a report has surfaced online suggesting that Apple may ditch the Lightning ports from other existing products as well.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now revealed in a follow up tweet that Apple may also replace the lightning port with USB Type C in other Apple devices as well. According to Kuo, a port-less iPhone would “create greater complications due to existing wireless technology restrictions and the immature MagSafe ecosystem.”
The tweet also suggests that Apple will introduce new USB-C variants for its existing Lightning-charged products. Apple’s accessories for Macs and iPhones also include AirPods wireless earbuds, the Magic Keyboard, Trackpad, and Mouse, as well as a MagSafe Battery Pack. This means that the company may include a USB Type C in all these accessories.
Kuo also believes that the move will also help suppliers of the Apple ecosystem become the market’s focus in the next couple of years.
Although Apple is currently gearing up to launch the iPhone 14 series later this year, we have seen numerous reports about its successor. According to the leaks, Apple iPhone 15 may feature under-display Face ID feature that will help the company to get rid of the notch, Apart from this, the 2023 iPhone models are also rumoured to get periscope lens, under-display Touch ID and several other new features.
