Apple might announce “several” Macs at WWDC 2023 event on June 5: Report
Apple’s annual developer summit – Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2023 is only a few days away now. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may bring ‘several’ Macs at the event this year.
In a post on microblogging site Twitter, Gurman writes that he expects three major focus areas at the WWDC event next week. These include Apple mixed reality headset, new iOS along with several Mac laptops and computers.
He goes on to say that the keynote of WWDC 2023 will be ‘one of Apple’s longest ever and easily exceed two hours.’
Gurman has previously reported that the Cupertino-based company may announce a 15-inch screen MacBook Air with M2 chips at the upcoming event next week. It is also reported that Apple is testing “a pair of new high-end Macs” with the M2 Max chip and an unannounced M2 Ultra chip.
Apple Mac Studio is now more than a year old. It is likely that Apple is working on a revised version of it with an advanced processor. Reports have also suggested that the iPhone maker will open trade-ins for the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro on the same day as the WWDC keynote.
Other than Macs, another highlight of this year’s WWDC 2023 event will be the mixed reality headset. Rumoured to be called ‘Reality Pro’, the device is said to come powered by a chipset with a processor similar to Apple’s M2 chipset. It could sport a dozen or so cameras to detect body movements and read facial expressions.
As per reliable Apple tipster Ross Young, Apple’s rumoured virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headset could feature dual 1.41-inch micro OLED displays with 4,000 PPI index and more than 5,000 nits of brightness.
On the pricing front, the device is likely to be seven times as expensive as Meta Platforms Inc.’s Quest 2, the biggest selling VR headset currently with 18 million units to date according to CCS Insight. It may be priced at around $3,000 ( ₹2.48 lakh).
