Now a new report has surfaced online revealing information about the interface, functionality and app support of the yet-to-launch mixed-reality headset.
As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is planning to incorporate hand and eye tracking functionality in its AR/VR headset. The report adds that this could be the main selling point of the device. Along with this, the yet-to-launch mixed reality headset is said to include FaceTime-based videoconferencing and meeting rooms. The wearable is also tipped to serve as an external display for Mac and it is also said to perform various iPhone and iPad functions.
Here’s how Apple’s mixed reality headset may function
The Bloomberg report reveals that Apple’s AR/VR headset may come with a similar interface as iOS. The device is also said to offer functions similar to iPhone and iPad. As per the report, the users of Apple’s mixed reality headset will be able to use the device as an external display for Mac. This will enable users to control their Mac with a physical keyboard and mouse.
The Apple AR/VR headset is also rumoured to come with eye and hand-tracking. This means that the user will be able to control the headset by looking at on-screen items and using gestures. This will also be minus the need for a physical controller.
AR or VR: Choose your pick
Likely to be called Reality Pro, the mixed reality headset from Apple is said to enable users to choose from AR and VR. The AR element of the headset will display virtual objects of the real world, while the VR part will create a completely virtual environment. The company is also tipped to include an external battery pack to prevent overheating. The external battery support will also enable users to swap the batteries when needed.
