If you are using an iPhone 8 or later, you can either update to iOS 16 for the new features or stay on the iOS 15 with the iOS 15.7 update. Meanwhile, if you have an iPhone 8 or older that does not support iOS 16, it is highly advised to update your iPhone to iOS 15.7. Similarly, for iPads, Apple advises installing iPadOS 15.7 for all the users until iPadOS 16 arrives.
The iOS 15.7 update comes just a few weeks after the release of the iOS 15.6.1 emergency security update. The new update for iPhones and iPads fixes 11 bugs, out of which two were related to the kernel, and there were two bugs with the WebKit. Meanwhile, flaws related to the Maps, MediaCentre, Safari and more have also been fixed.
The iOS 15.7 security update is currently rolling out for iPhone 6S and later, iPod Touch (7th generation) Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 and newer models are also compatible with iOS 16.
Meanwhile, iPadOS 15.7 is available for all the iPad Pro models, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later. The iPadOS 16 was delayed due to some issues with the new ‘stage manager’ feature, so the big new update for iPads – iPadOS 16.1 – is expected to drop in October.
