- 21 new emoji have been added in the emoji keyboard. That includes animals, hand gestures, and objects.
- The Apple Pencil hover feature now supports tilt and azimuth, allowing users to preview their mark at any angle before making it in Notes and supported apps on iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation).
- Notifications for web apps have been added to the Home Screen.
- The duplicate album in Photos now has expanded support to detect duplicate photos and videos in an iCloud Shared Photo Library.
- VoiceOver now supports maps in the Weather app.
- An accessibility setting has been added to automatically dim video when flashes of light or strobe effects are detected.
- The update also fixes an issue with Apple Pencil responsiveness while drawing or writing in the Notes app and addresses an issue where Ask to Buy requests from children may fail to appear on the parent’s device.
- Finally, the update addresses issues where Matter-compatible thermostats could become unresponsive when paired with Apple Home.
iOS 16.4 official rollout timeline
Usually, Apple rolls out the update to all users after a week of Release Candidate rollout. We expect the rollout for the iPadOS 16.4 will happen sometime next week. Along with this, Apple will also rollout the iOS 16.3, watchOS 9.4, macOS 13.3 and tvOS 16.4 updates as well.
How to install iOS 16.4 when its available
After Apple starts rolling out the update, users will receive the update notification. Users can simply tap on the notification and install the update. Alternatively, head to Settings → General — Software update and check for the update manually.
