Apple to Reportedly Announce Mixed Reality Headset in the Near Future
Mixed Reality is the future, and it might be arriving sooner than we thought. For those oblivious of the term, Mixed Reality is a blend of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. It is designed to provide users with experiences, where they can interact with digital items in the real world. In order to access this reality, a user generally needs a headset, and it seems like Apple is going to be the next big headset maker in the game.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple just showcased its upcoming mixed reality headset to the Top 100, a group comprising of Apple’s highest-ranking employees, at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. Due to this report, many are speculating that Apple might be ready for a public announcement for this headset in the near future. This has caused everyone’s attention to shift towards the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
More details about the device show that is will not have a killer app and will run on external batteries which can be swapped out every few hours. Moreover, the price point for the headset is also being speculated to be priced at a whopping $3,000, and it could be named the Reality Pro or the Reality One once it comes out. At the moment, we do not know what type of media the upcoming device will be able to support.

Furthermore. a report on AppleInsider has revealed more details for the device. It seems that it will be inspired by the Meta Quest 2, but will look more like “ski-googles” aesthetically. The device is also rumored to have automatically adjusting lenses and OLED displays to provide users with the best visual experience. Lastly, it’s also reported that the headset can run without the need of a host device by directly downloading content through iCloud.
