Apple Watch buying guide: Which one should you get? – Times of India

There’s no better smartwatch than the Apple Watch if you have an iPhone. While other watches can be paired with the iPhone, you never really get the optimum experience. Buying an Apple Watch can be a rather tricky decision since now Apple has three new models available. In this buying guide, we tell you which one is the best for you:
Apple Watch Ultra: The best Apple Watch
Priced at Rs 89,990, the Apple Watch Ultra is easily the most powerful and best Watch in Apple’s portfolio. It gets a plethora of features that aren’t found in the other two models. For starters, the Watch Ultra offers more than two-day battery life. The Apple Watch Ultra also comes with three new band styles — Ocean Band, Alpine Loop and Trail Loop.
Moreover, it has a lot of exclusive features that you don’t get any other Apple Watch model. The display is the brightest — with up to 2,000 nits of brightness. It is also the biggest Apple Watch — 49mm size — you can get and yet it is extremely comfortable. Not to forget there are a lot of outdoor activities related features on the Apple Watch. There’s an all-new Action button that gives you option to customise it and can do things like control a workout, mark a Compass Waypoint or begin a dive.

Is this is the one you should get? Certainly, if you have the cash to splash as there’s no better Apple Watch you can buy. Don’t go by the perception that this isn’t an “every day wear” smartwatch as the Apple Watch Ultra is meant for all things and all kinds of users.
Apple Watch Series 8: The ideal Watch for ‘upgraders’
By the looks of it, there’s little difference between the Apple Watch Series 7 and Watch Series 8. However, there is a standout feature — for women’s health — that you get with the Watch Series 8. Apple Watch Series 8 has a new sensor that tracks your temperature while you sleep, so you can see changes over time. Further, the Cycle Tracking feature uses this data go give an estimated ovulation time. This data is then combined with heart rate and logged cycle data to give a detailed view of women’s menstrual cycle. Thanks to watchOS 9, users also get the Low-Power mode, which means they can get more battery life out of the Apple Watch Series 8.
Is it the one you should get? The Apple Watch Series 8 isn’t a serious upgrade on the Watch Series 7 or for that matter Series 6. Having said that, at Rs 45,990, it is a good upgrade for anyone who has an older Apple Watch (like Series 5, 4). It is a really good smartwatch but not for first-time buyers.
Apple Watch SE: The best Watch for first-time buyers
At Rs 29,990, this is the most affordable Apple Watch you can buy. The Watch Series SE is ideal for those who are first-time Apple Watch buyers. There’s always a sense of skepticism before one actually makes that purchase decision of picking an Apple Watch. Is it good enough? Or whether one will use all the features? The Watch SE is a great initiation into understanding and using the Apple Watch.
You don’t get the headline acts — no ECG, no SPo2 or an always-on display — but you do get a heart rate monitor, cycle tracking, and even Crash Detection. The Apple Watch SE has everything — well, almost everything — that an average smartphone user will end up using, which is why chances are that it will be the most popular smartwatch in the upcoming months.
Is this the one you should get? Yes, if you are a first-time Apple Watch buyer or a rather ‘casual’ Apple Watch user. It might be a toned-down version of Apple Watch Series 8, but still has a lot going for it. Not to forget, this is the cheapest Apple Watch you can buy.
