Apple WWDC 2023 Liveblog: All the News as It Happens

Today’s the day, folks. Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference begins in a few hours with a keynote address at 1 pm Eastern, 10 am Pacific. This is the event that Apple typically uses to preview the software enhancements coming later this year to the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and its other products.

Although WWDC is a software conference aimed at developers, there’s still the possibility we’ll see a hardware announcement or two. It is of course widely rumored that the company will show off a mixed-reality headset at today’s event. This rumored $3,000 face computer will mark the launch of a new software platform for Apple, its first since the Apple Watch in 2015. Speculation about its release has set the rest of the industry’s VR proponents scrambling to get their newest hardware out and bolster their software offerings. There could also be some new Mac laptops on the docket—far less exciting than a VR headset but likely far more practical. Of course, these are just guesses. With Apple, you never know. Read our comprehensive rundown of what to expect at WWDC 2023.

We’ll be providing liveblog coverage throughout the event. We have three reporters attending the show at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, and two watching from afar just like you. We’ll be posting each bit of news here, along with photos from the event and some analysis that puts Apple’s announcements into context.

Watch the keynote at Apple’s developer portal or at the company’s YouTube channel. We’ll also embed the video here at the top of the liveblog once coverage gets underway.

The liveblog will get started about one hour before the keynote begins. So please join us here at 9 am Pacific, noon Eastern. When the liveblog gets started, it will replace this part of the page.
