Apple WWDC 2023: WatchOS 10 to likely get software upgrades. What to expect

Apple’s highly anticipated Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is scheduled to kick off on June 5 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino. The event will begin with a keynote presentation by Apple CEO Tim Cook, followed by a series of online developer sessions throughout the week.

Exciting announcements are in store, including the unveiling of Apple’s new headset and the introduction of xrOS specifically designed for the headset. Moreover, attendees can expect to see updates to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS being showcased at the event.

This year, Apple Watch users can look forward to exciting updates. Renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has revealed that watchOS 10 is expected to deliver substantial software improvements, making it one of the most significant updates in recent years.

Additionally, according to a report by 9to5Mac, notable changes to the interface will be introduced, including the reintroduction of widgets. These enhancements will enable users to conveniently access a wide range of information, such as activity tracking and weather, through simple scrolling, eliminating the need to open individual apps.

A recent update, watchOS 9.5.1, has been rolled out by Apple, providing bug fixes and overall improvements for the Apple Watch. This update, sized at 91.8MB, does not include any security updates. Users can install the update by accessing the Settings app on their Apple Watch or through the Watch app on their iPhone. In the previous month, Apple introduced watchOS 9.5, which introduced a new Pride watch face exclusively for the year 2023.

During the WWDC 2023 keynote address, Apple is set to reveal watchOS 10, which is anticipated to introduce substantial enhancements to the Apple Watch, with a specific focus on widgets. Those eager to try out the new features can anticipate the availability of the initial beta versions of watchOS 10 starting from Monday. The final release of watchOS 10 is expected to be launched in September.

In 2023, the Apple Watch is not expected to undergo significant hardware changes. Instead, the watchOS update will take center stage, offering the most notable advancements for the device. The primary focus will be on enhancing the operating system, making it the key aspect to look out for when it comes to the Apple Watch this year.
