Apple’s next big product? What the WWDC 2023 invite hints at – Times of India

Apple recently sent out official invitations to select media to attend the keynote of its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The WWDC 2023 keynote will be held in person at the company’s Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California. The keynote is set to take place at 10 am PDT (10.30 pm IST) on June 5. The full event will run from June 5 through June 9 in an online format, but like the previous year the keynote will be in-person. Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to kick off the event.
Decoding WWDC 2023 keynote invite
The WWDC 2023 keynote invite gives the biggest hint yet that we are likely to see the company’s long-awaited VR headset or maybe VR OS. The invite is entirely black, with a rainbow-coloured ring that resembles the large loop building at Apple Park. It is 3D with rainbow colours kinda edging out, hinting that some kind of VR or AR announcement is coming, be it hardware or software, or maybe both. Apple reportedly has also sent the WWDC 2023 invites to AR and VR specialists.
In fact, WWDC 2023’s biggest announcement is said to be the unveiling of Apple’s augmented reality headset, a long-awaited device. The headset will mark the company’s first major foray into the world of “mixed reality,” a term used by many to describe both AR and VR. The AR headset may run a new version of Apple’s mobile operating system likely to be known as ‘xrOS’ and may sport ‘Reality One’ branding.
WWDC 2023 announcements
The WWDC is typically a software event. Every year, Apple makes a number of software announcements at the event, including showcasing major new updates to iPhone’s iOS, iPadOS, macOS and more. The company announces its latest software updates with new features and changes. This year, Apple is likely to announce iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, and tvOS 17.
