Arsenal hero Paul Merson livid with Dominic Calvert-Lewin suggestion
Arsenal legend Paul Merson was caught up in a passionate row over Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin amid suggestions that the England international would have no reason to head to north London. The Gunners are in the midst of an attacking crisis, with a number of stars soon to be out of contract which could prompt swift action in the transfer market.
After an admirable recovery from their poor start to the season, Mikel Arteta’s side are once again struggling for Premier League form.
Before kick-off against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, the Gunners had lost three of their past four league games.
They therefore slipped from knocking on the door of the top four down to seventh spot, with the race for Champions League qualification beginning to take shape.
As the January transfer window looms just around the corner, Arteta and transfer chief Edu may have to address a big problem in attack.

“If Calvert-Lewin goes there, they can get into the top four.”
The 24-year-old has struggled with injury for the majority of the season, although he started strongly with three goals in three Premier League games.
Last season was his second in double figures, notching 21 in all competitions to put him firmly on the radar of the division’s big hitters.
Given his age, track record and importance to Everton, it may take a bid in excess of his £41million valuation to tempt the Toffees into doing business over the coming weeks.
