Arsenal ‘in communication’ over two massive Premier League transfers

Arsenal are reportedly ‘in communication’ with Declan Rice and Mason Mount about possible moves for the pair in the summer transfer window. Both players’ current contracts expire in 2024 and aren’t expected to re-sign with their respective clubs.

Rice has been strongly linked with a move away from West Ham in the summer and the Hammers are said to be asking for at least £100m for their star player. Former club Chelsea, who released him as a 14-year-old, are monitoring the situation.

While Newcastle and Liverpool are also keen on securing his signature. But Arsenal’s interest is thought to be the most advanced and there are hopes that an agreement can be reached before the window opens in June.

Mount, meanwhile, has been in drawn-out negotiations with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly over a fresh deal for some time now. Talks had initially stalled over Mount’s wage expectations with the 24-year-old said to be asking for £250,000 a week if he was to commit his future long-term.

Mount also has reservations over the length of the contract and image rights, as per the Evening Standard. However, there has been some progress recently. It is understood that Boehly has offered the England international a one or two-year extension after his initial proposition of a seven-year contract was turned down.

But according to, super agent Haydn Dodge, Arsenal are still well in with a chance of signing Mount and Rice. In a column for CaughtOffside, he wrote: “Declan Rice has always been a recruitment target for Liverpool, but I’m also being told that he would like to stay around London.

“I know Mason Mount was a big target for Liverpool around the same time, but both Mount and Rice may be Arsenal bound, and I know there are some communications with Arsenal to have those two based in their midfield.

“I think Rice suits Arsenal’s style of play and has everything needed as a modern day midfielder, but that equally applies to Chelsea and Liverpool. For example, If I’m a Liverpool fan and I’ve potentially got a midfield of Harvey Elliott, Declan Rice and Mason Mount, plus the other players they’ve already got there, that’s a real big positive and could potentially be an England midfield for years to come.”
