Arsenal release brutal statement as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stripped of captaincy

Arsenal have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of club captaincy after his ‘latest disciplinary breach’ and will exclude him from a second successive matchday squad. Aubameyang missed the Gunners’ win over Southampton on Saturday, and Mikel Arteta has now taken further action.

On Tuesday morning, Arsenal released a damning statement, confirming Aubameyang’s removal as captain.

It read: “Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday’s match against West Ham United.

“We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed.

“We are fully focused on tomorrow’s match.”
