Defenders
William Saliba 9/10 – Absolutely critical to Arsenal’s defensive stability. When he was sidelined by injury at the end of the season, The Gunners missed him massively. Saliba’s pace, strength and one on one defending are up there with the very best in the world. Now, all Arsenal need to do is extend his contract.
Ben White 8/10 – After a stellar debut campaign at centre-half, White made the move to right back and looked outstanding in doing so. One of Arsenal’s most consistent performers, a brief drop-off in form during the final few games doesn’t take away from what has been a brilliant second season at the Emirates for him.
Gabriel Megahales 8/10 – When it comes to last-ditch tackling you’ll be hard-pressed to find many better than Gabriel. The Brazilian got Arsenal out of some sticky situations this season and has developed a formidable partnership with Saliba.
Oleksandr Zinchenko 8/10 – Not your typical left-back so defensive shortcomings won’t be marked too harshly. Zinchenko’s offensive output has been nothing short of outstanding and has helped revolutionise Arsenal’s attacking options this season.
Kieran Tierney 6/10 – Offers something different to Zinchenko and should have been used more this season when facing dangerous attack-minded opposition yet he appears to have fallen out of favour with Arteta.
Takehiro Tomiyasu 6/10 – Hampered by injuries once again but provides useful versatility across the backline when fit.
Rob Holding 4/10 – Looked very shaky when brought in to replace Saliba at the back end of the season. Will surely be moved on in the summer.
Jakub Kiwior 7/10 – Showed glimpses of being a very good player when he was eventually given the opportunity to play down the home stretch.
Cedric Soares 4/10 – Produced four very forgettable performances for Arsenal before being shipped off on loan to Fulham where he also barely played.
