Arunachal Olympic Association condemns China for issuing stapled visas for Indian sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh

The Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) which is the apex sports body of the state has vehemently condemned China for issuing stapled visas” for Indian sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh.

Secretary General Arunachal Olympic Association Bamang Tago said that the act of Chinese government for discriminatory of the people of Arunachal Pradesh particularly to the sports persons on the basis domicile. Issuing of staple visas to our three promising Wushu athletes from Arunachal is not only a discriminatory act on the part of China but also an insult to the whole nation.

He said, “There have been many instant cases in the past where athletes and officials from Arunachal have been deprived for participation from international events due to issuing of staple visa and some athletes has lost their careers too for which no longer, we cannot tolerate. China has now become an important location for international sports events and will continue to host more in the future. In such a scenario, sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh will be deprived in days to come for no fault of theirs,” Tago said.

AOA has summoned Special General Body Meeting (SGM) at Itanagar on 5th August, 2023 to chalk out the modus operandi for democratic movement across the state and beyond to register its protest against such discrimination meted to the Arunachalee particularly to the sports person(s).

Tago said, “AOA will lead the movement and we will seek the intervention from all stakeholders including the Government of India and beyond.”
