Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan vs Afghanistan: Naseem Shah will remember these sixes for the rest of his career, says Shadab Khan | Cricket News – Times of India

SHARJAH: Following his side’s thrilling one-wicket win over Afghanistan in the ‘Super 4’ stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 , Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan said that the team was confident that bowlers could bat and Naseem Shah will remember those two sixes for the rest of his career.
As a result of Pakistan’s win, India are out of contention for the final as Shah’s two back-to-back sixes off the first two balls of the final over undid brilliant bowling by Afghanistan throughout the innings and secured Pakistan a victory with the narrowest of margins .

“We were confident that our bowlers could bat…management had given them a role because you may need your bowlers to deliver with the bat sometimes. Naseem will remember these two sixes for the rest of his career,” said Shadab at the post-match press conference. “I can play such matches, but cannot watch them.”

On Asif Ali‘s heated argument with Afghanistan bowler Fareed Ahmad, which saw Ali raising his bat at him and the bowler shoving him, Shadab said, “These things happen in the heat of the moment because both of the teams are playing to win. These should be forgotten then and there only.”
Shadab expressed regret at his dismissal after playing a rash shot and said he should have finished the match.

“We should have finished the match much before. We were confident. Good teams should not undergo such collapses. I played a rash shot, I should have finished (the game). I made a mistake. But if I get another chance, I will finish the game, said the Pakistan all-rounder.
“We hope that such things do not happen again.”
