The 19th Asian Games officially began in Hangzhou on September 23, 2023, delayed by a year owing to COVID-19 restrictions in China. The Indian contingent has more than 650 athletes participating in the Games this year.
This year, the Indian contingent registered its best-ever medal haul at the Asian Games by going past the previous edition’s tally of 70.
The haul of 70 medals was achieved at the last edition of the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, when India won 16 gold.
Ahead of the final day of the 2023 Hangzhou Games, India has won 107 medals — 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze.
