Asus has announced ROG Academy Season 8, marking the return of CS:GO in it as the academy seeks to nurture talent from the game’s community. ROG Academy Season 8 aims to discover passionate gamers aspiring to enter the esports world and provide them with a platform to improve their competitive gaming skills. Registrations for the next season have already begun, and below you’ll find details on how to register, the curriculum, and more.
ROG Academy Season 8
So far, ROG Academy has received more than 13,000 total registrations in its past seasons. Asus also stated that the ROG Academy has successfully transformed 42 gamers into esports players over the years. There are six ex-ROG Academy players who are placed in top esports organisations as well, and some of them have competed in major tournaments such as Valorant Challengers 2023: South Asia 2023.
The Asus ROG Academy selection process is split into different phases. There will be six players selected for a six-month-long program. As per the curriculum, ROG Academy will accustom players to various aspects such as “teamwork, communication, analyzing the opponents, tracking improvement, weapon selection, and skillsets, map breakdown, execute and more.”
Selected players will receive a monthly stipend of INR 15,000 during the program, in addition to being equipped with the latest ROG laptops and accessories, including monitors, headphones, and keyboards, among others, to support their training.
How to register for ROG Academy Season 8
ROG Academy Season 8 registrations have opened on July 19 and all aspiring candidates aged 16-18 can apply. Those interested have to head to the official ROG website to apply for the upcoming training course. The application process requires players to answer various questions that help Asus evaluate “the type of player each applicant is, making sure to find the best fit for the program.”
There will also be a theory test in the selection process to gauge the situational awareness and decision-making in tough situations. It will be followed by a range test that evaluates the shooting skills of a CS:GO player through multiple challenges. Bots used in this test will have their difficulty set to hard as players try to get the highest score achievable by them. The final stage of the selection process will be scrims rounds. Here, Asus will monitor a player’s gameplay and communication to understand which role they fit in.
