Atalanta explore second Chelsea signing as ‘Callum Hudson-Odoi loan bid prepared’

Atalanta are weighing up a loan move to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, according to reports in Italy. The Serie A club have recently done business with the Blues after they completed the permanent signing of wing-back Davide Zappacosta for a fee in the region of £8million.

Talks were also held with Tammy Abraham’s representatives over a potential move to Bergamo but the striker, who was also a target for Arsenal, eventually joined Roma in a deal worth up to £34m.

Atalanta are renowned for their fearless attacking style and they have been the top-scorers in Serie A for the past three consecutive seasons, something that bodes well when trying to convince forward players to join the club.

Now they are looking to add more quality in attack as they go after the Scudetto and according to reports in Italy, Hudson-Odoi is on their radar.

As relayed by Get Italian Football News, Corriere della Sera claim Atalanta are discussing a potential loan for the winger, who managed just two Premier League goals last season.

His involvement soon became limited once again though and now the wideman wants to kick on after a difficult spell out of the side.

Bayern Munich have previously shown an interest, tabling up to four bids for the 20-year-old in the past two years.

All approaches were rebuffed by Marina Granovskaia, who has simply no interest in selling the Chelsea academy graduate after tying him down to a long-term contract.

The European champions are expected to be active in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window, including both incomings and outgoings.

Chelsea are currently working on a potential loan deal for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez that includes an option to buy.

The midfielder is up for grabs despite starting both of Atletico Madrid’s La Liga matches so far against Celta Vigo and Elche respectively.

Granovskaia is also closing in on the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla but the deal could be delayed until closer to the deadline.

That’s because a move hinges on the sale of Kurt Zouma, whose move to West Ham is yet to be completed despite medical checks in Paris yesterday.
