Ather 450S entry-level electric scooter teased, Ather 450X price goes up after subsidy cut
Separately, the Indian Government has enforced stricter implementation of the FAME II subsidy and has reduced the total incentive cap by a substantial margin. Ola Electric recently announced a Rs 15,000 price hike and now Ather Energy has also upped the prices on the Ather 450X premium electric scooter.
New Ather electric scooter teased
Ather’s new teaser gives a glimpse of the upcoming Ather 450S entry-level electric scooter which will be launched soon in India. The company might differentiate the new Ather 450S from its outgoing more expensive counterpart, the Ather 450X, by introducing subtle design changes to the front apron of the scooter. While the feature set of the electric scooter is still unknown, it is possible that the Ather 450S might drop out some more expensive features which will be reserved for more expensive models.
- The Ather 450S will be powered by a 3kWh battery pack and will deliver an IDC-certified range of 115km per charge.
- The Ather 450S will also boast a top speed of 90kmph which is the same as the Ather 450X.
- The company has also teased a sticker price of Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom) on the upcoming Ather 450S.
Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and CEO, of Ather Energy, said, “The 450 platform has been immensely successful for us, and we wanted to make it available to a wider set of buyers. The 450S will be our new entry-level variant for those looking to enter the electric segment but are seeking the quality and assurance that Ather scooters provide.” (source: Autocar Professional).
Ather 450X prices hiked
The Ather 450X premium electric scooter has suffered a price hike after the new FAME II subsidy norms have come into play. The total incentives on the Ather 450X have been reduced by Rs 32,000 under the new laws and the top-of-the-line Ather 450X has become dearer by Rs 8,000. The new price on the Ather 450X stands at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi, including FAME-II subsidy).
The base Ather 450X has now seen a price bump of Rs 30,000 and the new price stands at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom). The company, however, will be bundling access to the Grid fast-charging network and a 700W fast charger, which combined cost Rs 20,000.
