Indian commuters heavily depend on their two-wheelers for everyday activities and most mainstream automaker intends to cater to this huge market with their offerings. The Indian electric two-wheeler space which has exploded massively is contributed to a large extent by electric scooters under Rs 1 lakh and which offer an adequate range for an average consumer. Recently, Ather Energy launched an affordable variant of the Ather 450X electric scooter to cater to the growing demand in the segment. Let’s take a look at other alternatives in the market, that offer about 100km of range and retail for under Rs 1 lakh (~ approx ex-showroom). 

Top electric scooters in India under Rs 1 lakh

1. Ola S1 and Ola S1 Air

The Ola S1 with the 2kWh battery pack and the Ola S1 Air with the 3kWh battery pack offer the most value-for-money proposition for buyer shopping in this segment. Priced a rupee below a lakh, the Ola S1 and S1 Air offer the most bang for the buck. The Ola S1 and Ola S1 Air offer 91km and 125km of range from their 2kWh and 3kWh battery packs respectively. The scooters offer 34+ litres of storage, a 7-inch digital dash, LED lighting, three riding modes, combi braking, navigation and 165mm of ground clearance.

2. Hero Electric Optima CX

The Hero Electric Optima CX is another city-friendly offering that is targeted at commuters on a budget. The electric scooter looks functional and gets features like LED headlamps, alloy wheels, USB charging port, a detachable battery and telescopic front forks. The Hero Electric Optima CX gets an electric motor with a peak power output of 1.2kW and is paired with a 51.2V / 30Ah battery pack that delivers a claimed range of 140km.

3. Ampere Magnus EX

The Ampere Magnus EX is a value-for-money offering in the commuter segment and offers a claimed range of up to 100km on a single charge. This electric scooter looks much like ICE powered scooter and wears chrome accents to good taste. It is also offered in a choice of four colour options. The scooter features a removable battery, long floorboard, under seat storage, LED lighting, reverse mode and more.

4. Bounce Infinity E1 

Bounce Infinity E1 is a commuter-centric electric scooter from an Indian EV startup and aims to offer low costs of ownership. The Bounce Infinity E1 gets a removable battery pack and support from Bounce’s promised battery-swapping stations. It gets features like LED lighting, disc brakes, regenerative braking, connected features, a digital dash and more. The electric scooter can also be customised to a great extent using graphical skins that are offered as optional fitments from the company itself.

5. TVS iQube 

The base TVS iQube is a practical electric scooter offering from an established automaker which also happens to be one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world. The TVS iQube has been reported to have its basics right when it comes to comfort, practicality, storage, braking, fit and finish, etc. The iQube also gets bells and whistles such as LED lighting, a digital dash, alloy wheels and more. In the base variant, the iQube delivers a claimed range of 100km and charges up from zero to 80 percent in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The prices on the above-mentioned scooter might differ depending upon the state where the vehicle is purchased. Moreover, Ola Electric and Bounce have started taking bookings for the Ola S1/Ola S1 Air and the Bounce Infinity E1, but has not yet provided a concrete timeline for deliveries.
