Atletico Madrid under UEFA investigation and face two charges after Man City loss
Atletico Madrid are under investigation by UEFA and face two charges following their Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night. Madrid lost the first leg of their quarter-final showdown at the Etihad Stadium after Kevin de Bruyne scored the only goal of the game with 20 minutes remaining.
“Disciplinary proceedings have been instigated in accordance with Article 55 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) following the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match between Manchester City FC and Club Atletico de Madrid (1-0) played on 5 April 2022 in England,” read a statement from UEFA.
The two charges against Atletico are for “discriminatory behaviour” and the “throwing of objects,” with UEFA confirming that their control, ethics and disciplinary body “will decide on the matter in due course.”
