Auto Expo 2023: Maruti Suzuki EV concept showcased, Hyundai IONIQ 5 launched in India
The vehicle also showcases strong design characteristics with signature LED DRLs, an LED lightbar at the rear, strong wheel arch bulges, a sloping roofline and an aerodynamic wheel design. Maruti is also likely to include a 48kWh battery pack for entry-level trims when the model launches to keep the prices in check. This variant could deliver a range of about 400km. The Maruti eVX will debut in its production form in 2025.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 launched in India
The Hyundai IONIQ has been launched in India for an introductory price tag of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 500 customers. The vehicle will be available in a single trim level and will get a three-colour palette that includes Gravity Gold (matte), Midnight Black Pearl, and Optic White. Hyundai is taking bookings for the IONIQ 5 for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. The IONIQ 5 will be assembled in India giving it a price advantage of about Rs 16 lakh as compared to the Kia EV6.
The vehicle features a 72.6kWh battery with an ARAI-certified range of 631km. This is paired with an electric motor producing 217hp and 350Nm of torque. The vehicle goes from 0 to 100kmph in 7.4 seconds. The IONIQ 5 can fast charge at 800V via which it could juice up from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes loaded with features that include 20-inch aero-optimised wheels, 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and touchscreen, a heads-up display with AR functions, ADAS, flat floor, upholstery from recycled plastic, LED lighting, sunroof, etc.
