Robbie addressed the idea of a sequel and said that things could be in any direction, given that the movie has not even been released yet. She is wary of the complications of a sequel and mentioned that one can fall into a trip when planning the sequel ahead so early on.

Speaking to Time, Margot Robbie said, “It could go a million different directions from this point. But I think you fall into a bit of a trap if you try and set up a first movie whilst also planning for sequels.”

Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig and will also be starring Ryan Gosling as Ken. The movie based on the iconic doll has been trending ever since its announcement trailer, one of which featured a funny reference to 2001: Space Odyssey. There have been other references such as the “Hi Barbie!” scene, giving a clever nod to Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit.

To make things more interesting, Barbie is also slated for a release on the same day as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. This already has the internet divided on which movie they are going to watch.
