BGMI Is Coming Back to India as Krafton Shares Official Statement About the Unban

The wait is over! Krafton India has just announced the return of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). As per an official announcement from Krafton, the popular mobile Battle Royale title will be “available to download soon.”

BGMI unban confirmed by Krafton India

The return of BGMI was confirmed with an official announcement from Krafton India. “We are highly grateful to the Indian authorities for allowing us to resume operations of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI),” said Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO, Krafton India. He continued by adding, “We would like to extend our gratitude to our Indian gaming community for their support and patience over the past few months.”

Over the past few weeks, several reports have suggested that Krafton will potentially relaunch BGMI in the near future, and those rumors have turned out to be true after all. Furthermore, some reports have even stated that the game will return temporarily with restrictions from the government.

Krafton has provided no details on whether or not such restrictions will apply at BGMI’s relaunch. However, Vibhor Kukreti, Head Government Affairs at Krafton India said, “We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our players and believe that by promoting responsible gaming, we can contribute to a healthier gaming culture, where players can enjoy themselves while still taking care of their overall well-being.”

In the official announcement, both Krafton officials thanked fans for the game’s initial success and for the support the mobile Battle Royale title received during the course of the suspension. Additionally, Krafton has also shared that it plans on continuing its India-first ideology by building the nation’s gaming ecosystem through cutting-edge technology, new job opportunities, and more.

Ever since the ban, there were varying reports about its eventual return. Krafton came out with several statements in recent times to inform players that they are working closely with the Indian government to bring back BGMI while complying with all the rules and regulations set by the government.

“Krafton is continuing its efforts to resume services for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and will continue investing in the Indian games market,” said Krafton during its Q3 2022 earnings report.

BGMI was banned by the Indian Government on July 28, 2022, due to privacy and safety issues. The government ordered the removal of BGMI from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Battlegrounds Mobile India was banned under section 69A of the IT Act.
