BGMI Unban: Indian Esports Industry Reacts to the Return of Battleground Mobile India

Battlegrounds Mobile India’s return has been eagerly anticipated by fans of the popular mobile battle royale game. Not just them, the Esports industry is also extremely excited with BGMI’s return. It’s no surprise given BGMI was the most dominant Esports title in the country before its eventual ban.

BGMI kickstarted the immense popularity of Esports in the country. It is a mobile game that amassed over 100 million registered users by July 2022, and led the pro gaming scene, in India which was growing rapidly.

Various Esports organisations in India started their journey into the Esports industry with a BGMI squad and later on expanded to other titles. Here is the reaction of various top Esports industry leaders on BGMI unban in India.

Government of India

Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics & Technology has clarified that Krafton has been given 3-month trial approval from the Indian government for BGMI.

This approval came after Krafton complied with issues raised by the Indian government including data security issues and BGMI server locations. The government will also keep a “close watch” on other issues such as user harm and addiction. Final approval by the government will be given at end of the 3-month trial after assessing the situation.
