Bing: Microsoft brings Bing Chat to Google Chrome, Safari, but there’s a catch – Times of India

Microsoft has rolled out its Bing AI chatbot for Google Chrome and Safari users. Users will now be able to use both browsers to access the chatbot from Bing.com. Previously, the chatbot was available only on the Edge browser.

While Microsoft didn’t allow Bing’s access on any other browser, users can access Google’s Bard chatbot on browsers other than Chrome. However, when users access Bard on Edge, Microsoft’s browser shows prompts to compare the answers with Bing.

Apart from Bing’s wider rollout across different browsers, Microsoft has also introduced dark mode for Bing Chat.
Bing Chat on Chrome, Safari: Restrictions
Microsoft’s chatbot is now available on other browsers, but there’s a catch. The company will restrict some of the features of the chatbot when it is being used on another browser. For example, users accessing Bing Chat on Chrome and Safari will be allowed to type 2,000-word prompts.

To compare, Bing Chat on Edge offers a 4,000-word limit. Moreover, users’ conversations with the chatbot will also reset after five turns instead of 30 on Edge. While using the chatbot on other browsers, Microsoft will also show users pop-ups that will ask them to download Edge.

Bing Chat dark mode
Along with adding support for other browsers, Microsoft is also introducing a dark mode for Bing Chat. Users can start using the dark mode by selecting the hamburger menu in the top-right corner of Bing Chat.
Here, select the Appearance option and choose the Dark or System Default toggles to enable or disable dark mode. However, the dark mode doesn’t seem to be widely rolled out yet. According to a report by Verge, not all users can see the dark mode option for Bing Chat.
