\DC’s hierarchy of power was shaken to its core earlier today, when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showed up at CinemaCon 2022 to debut the first footage of Black Adam.
The Hollywood star was one of many DC actors, who made an appearance during the event’s second day, as part of Warner Bros.’ presentation involving their upcoming projects.
Following a decade of developmental hell, DC will finally debut the first live-action project involving its popular anti-hero later this year, with The Rock playing the Kahndaq ruler, and he sure seemed like he wasn’t playing in the CinemaCon 2022 trailer.
“Heroes don’t kill people…”
“Well I do”
DAAAMMNN! The first #BlackAdam trailer is dark, dangerous & badass. Ends with Black Adam catching a rocket with his bare hand & watching it explode around him. @TheRock says there’s black & white, but this film operates more in the grey. pic.twitter.com/wkRJlkCesh— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) April 27, 2022
The footage showcases Black Adam as a slave, before his rebirth as a God with powers. This scene features a powerful voice-over from The Rock, wherein he states:
We then meet Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, who claims that Black Adam will be the “this world’s destroyer, or its savior,” which gave fans a slight sneak peek about the character’s anti-hero origins. Along with Doctor Fate, we also see other Justice Society of America members in Cyclone, Hawkman and Atom Smasher.
However, the main focus of the trailer was to show that Black Adam was quite the force to be reckoned with, as The Rock’s character even caught a rocket that barely caused an itch, even though it exploded it in his hand, after he caught it. In the end, the trailer finishes off in style with Adam mauling an enemy with a single punch, while replying to a comment about heroes not killing people by revealing that he does.
The upcoming DC movie promises to be a punch-fest with the world’s most popular action star playing the lead role, and October couldn’t come sooner for Black Adam fans, who have been waiting patiently to watch the DC flick in theatres.
