Black Panther: Wakanda Forever- Namor Actor Tenoch Huerta Hopes to Shed the Image of Villainous Latin-Americans in Hollywood With His Anti-Hero Character
Marvel Studios recently debuted the second trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is set to release next month on November 11.
The new trailer gave fans their first look at the new Black Panther, who takes over from King T’Challa following the death of actor Chadwick Boseman. Alongside a new hero, the film also sees the addition of a new antagonist in the Talocan king, Namor the Sub-Mariner.
The iconic Marvel villain has been part of several stories involving other heroes and villains, and his introduction is something fans have waited for a long time.
The character will be introduced to fans by actor Tenoch Huerta, who plays the monarch of the underwater kingdom. While the nation will battle it out against Wakanda in the film, the actor recently shared that he doesn’t believe his character to be an outright villain.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Huerta explained that the Feathered Serpent King of Talocan is showcased as an anti-hero compared to a villain like Killmonger from the original, which helps shed the image of characters of Latin-American origin being totally evil. (via The Direct)
In the upcoming sequel, the underwater kingdom will be waging a war against Wakanda following T’Challa’s decision to share the knowledge and power of the Vibranium with the rest of the world, and it will be interesting to see Namor’s intention as king. With the character confirmed to be a mutant, fans are excited to see how Marvel’s race of superpowered characters expands in the near future as well.
