Blue Beetle’s Caprax Actor Wishes The Rest of the Cast Enters James Gunn’s DCEU Too
Blue Beetle has just hit the theatres today, on August 18 across India. Right before the release, one of the actors of the movie has expressed his views about Blue Beetle becoming a part of the new DCU and also revealed the backstory for the antagonist of the movie. We also get to learn about how much money it took to create Blue Beetle and more below.
Blue Beetle Actor Wants The Whole Cast to “Go Along for the Ride”
In an interview with Screenrant, Blue Beetle Actor Raoul Max Trujillo, who plays the role of Carapax talks about his part in James Gunn’s DCEU. Trujillo states that he doesn’t know much, but he read the other day that Blue Beetle will be the first introduction to the new universe. He doesn’t know if that means “that everything that comes with Blue Beetle comes along for the ride as well”.
Trujillo then goes on to talk about how his character, Carapax is a “big figure in the world of Blue Beetle” and he hopes that the rest of the cast enters the new universe along with Blue Beetle.
Carapax Backstory Revealed
In another conversation with Screenrant, Trujillo spoke about the backstory of Carapax. Trujillo states that movie director Angel Manuel Soto wished to “expose more of the military industrial complex and US imperialism”, which led to a new origin for the villain. The actor adds that in his version of the character, he wanted Carapax to be a man who was kidnapped as a child because his village was destroyed. This is something very common “in all of Mexico and Latin America”, added Trujillo.
Trujillo then goes on to reveal that Carapax is the “product of the American school”, which is turning young boys into “soldiers and killing machines”. This is what separates the character from his comic book origins, where he is an “archaeologist, scientist, computer brained, all that stuff”. The actor concludes by stating that this is “quite a big departure” from the comic book origins.
Blue Beetle Budget Revealed
Finally, the latest data by TheNumbers has shed some new light on the budget for Blue Beetle. It cost Warner Bros $120 million to make this movie. Its budget is much cheaper than the likes of recently released DC films like Black Adam and The Flash which sit at $200 million and $220 million respectively.
