Boehly costs Chelsea appointment after Pochettino dressing room demand
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche is reportedly set to snub the chance to join Chelsea due to the ‘overbearing presence’ of Todd Boehly. This isn’t the first time that the Blues owner has had his behaviour at the club questioned, with soon-to-be manager Mauricio Pochettino putting in demands of his own to retain total control of his squad.
Chelsea’s first season under the full ownership of Boehly has been nothing short of a disaster, and the club are putting in numerous measures to ensure that they can climb back up the table and challenge for trophies.
The summer transfer window is set to be an incredibly busy period for the club, with Chelsea expected to cut their squad significantly – after Graham Potter struggled with the numbers at Stamford Bridge – and also welcome some marquee signings, with Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane among those recently linked.
Boehly has brought in several directors in order to steer Chelsea in the right direction, though the American’s hands-on style is proving to be his most significant downfall, with the businessman having a key say in transfers and also entering the dressing room on several occasions recently to voice his concerns about performances. According to BILD, it is Boehly’s antics – though not ill-intentioned – that has prompted Krosche to rethink his future.
Having been linked with a move to the Premier League side, the German is said to be concerned by Boehly’s presence and feels that the American is at risk of ‘interfering’ with proceedings to the detriment of Chelsea. Given that Krosche is not encountering any issues of that nature with Frankfurt, the 42-year-old is content with remaining in the Bundesliga for the foreseeable future and will snub imminent approaches from the Blues.
With a rebuffing pending due to his antics, Boehly may rethink how he is conducting himself at Chelsea and whether a step back from being the face of the club could be beneficial.
