Brie Larson Reveals Her Fast X Role: ‘A Little Bit of a Mystery’

Brie Larson has opened up about her role in Fast X, revealing that Tess is in fact the daughter of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody.

The latest issue of Total Film magazine unmasked Larson’s Fast X character Tess as Mr. Nobody’s daughter and offered fresh insight into her role in the franchise. According to GamesRadar, she will be fighting for the legacy of her father, who is presumed dead after F9.

“Tess is Mr. Nobody’s daughter,” she confirmed. “She is technically Agency, but she’s kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn’t go along with the way that the Agency’s headed now that her father isn’t there. She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and is fighting for that.

“Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she’s gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust,” she continued. “What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it’s an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that’s family for life.”

Up until now, the only description we had for Tess was that she is “a rogue representative from the Agency” (the top-secret CIA analogue run by Mr. Nobody), with recent trailers showing her determination to help Dom and his family go up against their new nemesis.

“I would say Tess is a little bit of a mystery,” Larson said of her character. “She is part of the Agency, but she also goes rogue and edges more towards the family side, but that means she has a lot to prove. When Dom gives her an impossible task that’s going to require a lot of thought and effort and also is putting herself at risk, she doesn’t question it.

“She agrees to do it because she wants to show up for this family the way that her father did,” she explained. “She’s also really intelligent. Tess plays the game well. She’s not afraid of going on her own mission to do what she feels is right in her heart.”

Larson is one of several new characters in the mix for Fast X. We got a glimpse of her character as well as Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes in the movie’s lengthy first trailer, which teased “pure chaos” from his character as he sets out for revenge against Toretto and his family.

Fast X will serve as the first half of a two-part finale for the Fast and Furious franchise. If you need to catch up on the series before Fast X, here’s how to watch the Fast and Furious movies in order.
