Bryce Young has given his first words after being selected with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Alabama quarterback won the Heisman Trophy in 2021 and put in another incredible season last year, being seen as the best quarterback in the talented class.
Young had been in the conversation for the first overall draft pick since January, though speculation later suggested the Carolina Panthers would instead select CJ Stroud.
However, they instead opted to pick Young and he spoke for the first time as a Carolina Panther on stage after being selected. Young said: “It’s still crazy. It’s a blessing. I’m super grateful to be here, I’m super grateful for the blessings from god for allowing me to be here.
“I’m grateful for all the people that allow me to do it. As amazing as this moment is, and I’m going to try to live in the moment, I can’t wait to get to work tomorrow and start building off of that.
“I will bring everything I have. I’m going to give everything to the franchise, to the organization, to the coaches.
“They believed in me, they drafted me, and I’m forever indebted for that. I will bringh everything I have.
“Preparation, not just on Sunday’s but through the entire week, I’m going to give it my all.”
