Popular dating app Bumble has announced that it is taking steps to improve the experience for nonbinary people on its platform by expanding their opportunities to connect while dating on its app.
The company has announced that it is updating the member experience for matches with nonbinary people, where either person can make the first move on Bumble Date. The company further adds that the women on the platform will continue to make the first move in matches with men and in matches between people of the same gender, either person can make the first move.
In an official note the company said, “We were founded with the intention of empowering women, and we want to create an inclusive environment where everyone can be themselves. As part of that mission, it’s important that we continue to update our platform to help create an inclusive community where everyone can feel comfortable.”
Recently, Bumble started its ‘Stand for Safety’ initiative in India. The app has partnered with Centre for Social Research (CSR), a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating a violence-free, gender-just society in India, to release a one-of-a-kind safety handbook to help drive awareness around digital safety and empower its community to recognise and combat online hate, bullying and discrimination.
