Call of Duty Warzone 2.0: Infinity Ward to Address the Building 21 Map Bug Soon

Just as players thought that another component in Call of Duty’s DMZ mode had been put behind the paywall, Infinity Ward has informed that it was only a bug. Earlier in the weekend, players noticed that Building 21, in the DMZ mode, was inaccessible to them. Many of them reported receiving a mail from support informing that it would be available once again only with the purchase of Modern Warfare 2. However, Infinity Ward has now addressed the uproar on the internet as a result of this, updating that it is a bug. Here’s more.

Players notice DMZ mode’s Building 21 not accessible without Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty is being criticised regarding their shift to pay-to-win strategies more and more with every passing day, especially with Warzone 2.0’s DMZ’s mode. The most recent addition, which fans thought was made quietly by Infinity War, was the access to Building 21 in the DMZ mode. During the weekend, players noticed that they couldn’t access the map. When they reached out to Player Support, they were informed that they need to “first purchase Modern Warfare 2” to have access to Building 21.

DMZ mode is a part of Call of Duty’s free-to-play battle royale Warzone, the latest of which, Warzone 2.0, launched with Modern Warfare 2. One doesn’t need to own a copy of Modern Warfare 2 in order to play Warzone 2.0 which includes the Building 21 map in the DMZ mode. Therefore, finding the map behind a paywall, without any prior notice, irked players as they took to the internet to express their disappointment.

A bug put Building 21 behind the paywall, not Infinity Ward

Infinity Ward has now addressed the matter with an official update, announcing that Building 21 is indeed “intended to be free to play for all Warzone 2.0 Players.” The developers mentioned that they have been “tracking an issue that placed components of this particular map in a Multiplayer DLC pack, resulting in it being inaccessible for Players who do not own MWII. This will be addressed in an upcoming update.”

Modern Warfare 2 recently commenced its third season, and the mid-season update, Realoded, is coming up next, scheduled for this month on May 17. If we are to go by Infinity Ward’s latest update regarding Building 21’s accessibility, it will get fixed by then. Till then, players who don’t own Modern Warfare 2, will continue to not have access to the Building 21 map of the DMZ mode in Warzone 2.0.

Call of Duty Loot for Good

In other news, Activision Blizzard has started a new campaign, “Loot for Good” to honour the US military in association with the Call of Duty Endowment. Endowment is a program by Activision Blizzard which places war and military veterans in “high-quality jobs,” with the objective of getting them back to work.

Loot for Good has been launched on the occasion of the ongoing Military Appreciation Month, the campaign is now live till May 7th. It is the first “charity extraction challenge” within Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode. Every time a player earns $30,000 of in-game cash during the campaign, Activision Blizzard will allocate $1 to the Call of Duty Endowment. They aim to achieve a total donation of $1 million with the campaign. You can check out the trailer here.
