It’s a sad day for Call of Duty fans, as Activision shuts down the original Caldera map in Warzone. Call of Duty Warzone’s Caldera map will be shut down on September 21. Based on past Activision updates, the map is likely to shut its doors at 6pm BST UK time. According to Activision, Caldera is shutting down in order for the developers to focus on future Call of Duty experiences. This includes the current Warzone free-to-play experience.
According to Activision, any skins purchased in Caldera will still be accessible in Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard.
“Regarding purchased content in Warzone Caldera – from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard – that will continue to be accessible in those specific games,” Activision explains.
“Please note that the Warzone Caldera shut down has no impact to current Warzone gameplay, inventory, or player progression in Al Mazrah or the other available maps, and we look forward to continuing with you in that new Warzone experience.”
Speaking of future Call of Duty experiences, Activision is getting ready to release Modern Warfare 3 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
The upcoming game features an all-new Zombies mode, as well as remastered versions of the 16 maps available in the 2009 Modern Warfare 2.
“In the direct sequel to the record-breaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat,” reads the official description.
“The ultranationalist war criminal Vladimir Makarov is extending his grasp across the world causing Task Force 141 to fight like never before.
“Modern Warfare III celebrates the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty with one of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever assembled – both fan favourites and all new ones.
“All 16 launch maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernised with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.”
