How Delta will improve in-flight Wi-Fi experience
In recent months, Delta has emphasised hardening its systems as more users are likely to use the free Wi-Fi service. To enable this rollout, the company said that it has worked with engineers at Viasat to test and scale its in-flight connectivity service.
Delta in-flight free Wi-Fi service: Availability
Delta’s in-flight free Wi-Fi service will be available for passengers who are a member of the company’s SkyMiles frequent flier service. However, the report claims that fliers will also be able to sign up for an account for the service while on the plane.
The company has confirmed that the passengers won’t have to be T-Mobile customers to use the service. It is important to note that the free Wi-Fi service won’t be restricted to a single phone or laptop for every user and will extend to multiple devices that fliers have with them.
Delta Sync: What is it
Apart from the free Wi-Fi service, Delta Air Lines is also launching the Delta Sync platform for its passengers. This platform will be a unified brand for its software, connectivity and in-flight entertainment offerings. Delta will use this platform to offer fliers a more personalized service using its mobile app.
The platform will also offer new airport experiences and will be linked to the flier’s SkyMiles account. Other features of Delta Sync includes the airline company’s optional facial recognition-based boarding system, which is currently being tested in Atlanta and Detroit.
