Chelsea ‘already negotiating player-plus-cash Kylian Mbappe transfer’ with PSG

Chelsea are reportedly negotiating a sensational player-plus-cash deal with PSG for Kylian Mbappe as Nasser Al-Khelaifi continues to push the 24-year-old superstar towards the exit door. The World Cup winner has made it abundantly clear he won’t be signing a new contract at the Parc des Princes this summer and therefore PSG are desperate to see him leave to avoid all possibility of losing the forward on a free transfer next summer.

Real Madrid are believed to be waiting to get the deal over the line in 2024 but it appears there is a chance Mbappe could still leave PSG before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Duncan Castles is reporting that Chelsea are already in talks over a swap deal package with PSG that also includes a significant sum of cash as the Blues attempt to keep the cost of the transfer down.

The report does not mention which players are being discussed as part of the negotiation, however.

Mbappe is valued at well over £200million by PSG, who recently accepted a £259m world-record proposal from Al Hilal for the electrifying attacker.

Still, Mbappe has no interest in discussing personal terms with the Saudi Arabian side as he does not intend to make the move to the Middle East at this stage of his career.

Incredibly, Mbappe would earn a whopping £605m in just a single season in Saudi Arabia if he was to make the move.

It’s believed Al Hilal would even be prepared to let him join Real Madrid in 2024 if he was to come and spend one season in the Saudi Pro League.

He would, however, be willing to listen to any offers that arrive from the Premier League even though his preference is to join Real Madrid.

Liverpool have previously shown interest in Mbappe but recent links between the Reds and the Frenchman are understood to be wide of the mark.

Manchester United and Tottenham were also recently named as admirers alongside Inter Milan and Barcelona but there are huge doubts as to whether any of those clubs could afford the kind of money required to strike a deal.

Chelsea do have huge cash to spend and they’re also in need of an extra injection of quality in attack.

Mbappe has already worked with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG also and the Argentine recently spoke out on Chelsea’s interest in his ex-player.

He said: “I need to be conscious, I cannot talk because everything that you talk about is too much noise, it is a very delicate situation and it is a situation they need to fix in Paris with Kylian, Kylian with PSG.

“But from our side, nothing to say. We are working in our reality, their reality is different – and they for sure have another reality. And from my side, nothing to say – only to support them and hope they find the best solution for both sides.”

The France international frontman has scored 212 goals for PSG in 260 outings for the club and those impressive numbers would be worth their weight in gold to Chelsea if Mbappe was to move to west London.

Chelsea are still lacking a prolific goalscorer and although Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson have looked bright in pre-season, Mbappe is a signing that would take their team to a whole new level.
