Chelsea boss Pochettino forced to abandon duties as thunderstorms ravage USA
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino was forced to abort his plans to hold a press conference before their pre-season clash against Fulham after thunderstorms and heavy rain hit their USA tour. The Blues are due to face their west London neighbours in the Washington city of Maryland at the FedExField on Sunday evening, but torrential weather conditions gave Pochettino little choice but to abandon his media duties on Saturday.
Chelsea have enjoyed an unbeaten run so far since arriving in America, winning twice against Wrexham and Brighton and drawing once – a 1-1 draw against Newcastle last time out in Atlanta.
Blues fans have been able to get a closer insight into what Pochettino is planning at the club this season after the Argentine began work a month ago as the fourth head coach appointed by Todd Boehly.
And while he has impressed in front of the media in discussing the young players in his squad to sending a message to the American billionaire, Pochettino will not get the same opportunity before their clash against Marco Silva’s Fulham.
